Episode 1 – Tashana Thompson
Welcome to the first episode of Making The Leap! It’s the podcast for full-time employees who want to become full-time entrepreneurs.
My guest this episode is Tashana Thompson of Beyond Business Solutions. BBS provides full service out sourced marketing management and support. Their specialty is working with associations who have educational programs to market.
Tashana shared a lot of informative advice for budding entrepreneurs. Here are a few highlights:
- Save if you can before making the leap. You should anticipate that you might not be able to replace your job’s salary immediately in your business so having money saved for living expenses for a few months, plus to invest in services your business will initially need is smart.
- One of the benefits of being an entrepreneur is the ability to maximize your personal growth. Working for other companies can be a limiting experience for some but when you work for yourself, the only caps and hindrances to your growth will be the ones you place on yourself.
- Goal setting is key to success. Be sure to always write down your goals and make sure they are clear and S.M.A.R.T.
- Stay true to yourself and to your skill set, especially when times get financially challenging in your business.
Tashana also share an underutilized marketing strategy that was instrumental in jumpstarting her initial clients… some of which stayed with her for 8 years! She also shared her tips for staying motivated, as well as what new entrepreneurs should be prepared to invest in at the outset of their business.

YOUR BUSINESS PLAN OF ACTION (P.O.A.)
Have you ever listened to an interview with a successful business owner and while you were inspired, you walked away thinking, “How do I get from where I am to where they are? What steps should I take?”
Well, I never want anyone asking that question after listening to Making The Leap. So I decided that after each show, I will record a video “After Show” where I zero in on an aspect of the conversation that I think would be most helpful to you as you are in the process of launching your business or planning to take your part-time side-hustle full-time.
Here’s the Episode 1 After Show… grab a pen and paper… you’ll need it!
So what did you think about the first episode? How did you like our guest? What “a-ha” moments did you have? Did you find the tips on the after show useful?
I’d love for Making the Leap to be a two-way conversation so please feel free to leave your comments or questions below and I will respond (as long as it is not spam or a hateful message). You can also leave a comment on social media using the hashtag #MakingThe Leap.
Supporting you in your leap!
